Supporting our NC State Community

NC State's commitment to community service is one of the many things that makes this institution special. The following information provides additional details on how you, too can support our NC State community.

The Office of Parents and Families Services is proud to support on and off-campus initiatives including, but not limited to, Play4Kay, Krispy Kreme Challenge, Feed the Pack, Parents Fund, Wolfpack Styled Professional Clothing Closet and the Student Emergency Fund

Ways You Can Help
As a member of the Wolfpack community, you have the opportunity to support the initiatives that sustain and enhance the experience of NC State students. The links above provide more information about drop-off locations and donations that can be made year-round as well as during Parents and Families Services signature events (see below).

NC State Day of Giving
The university also designates our annual Day of Giving (typically held each spring) as an opportunity to give back to the Wolfpack community. Click here to learn more about NC State’s Day of Giving.

Signature Events
Hosted by Parents and Families Services, signature events are another great way to engage in the service community here at State. Each year, Parents and Families Weekend and Spring Fling provide Pack Parents with intentional programming opportunities that support service efforts and most often invite families to participate alongside their student(s)… making it a true family affair.

Parents and Families Weekend
Held annually in the fall, Parents and Families Weekend is the largest event hosted by Parents and Families Services and promotes service opportunities throughout the course of the 3-day event. From silent auctions and a BINGO event to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to an early morning Fun Run that raises money for the Student Emergency Fund, planting projects, donation drop-offs and more… there is no shortage of fun activities that support these worthwhile causes.

Similar to our fall family weekend, Spring Fling invites Wolfpack Families back to campus second semester for special events and exciting opportunities to support some of our most popular service initiatives. Past efforts include plunging into Lake Raleigh for a Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics North Carolina, volunteering at the Play4Kay, and yes, even having parents and families run the ever-popular Krispy Kreme Challenge to support the UNC Children’s Hospital!

New for Spring Fling 2023, we are looking forward to a unique project that will involve some of the youngest of our Wolfpack Family members, the siblings! At this time, we are working to finalize the details of a special service project that will take place during PacKIN Action, a special event designed exclusively for NC State students and their siblings ages 7-17. Information will be shared on the Spring Fling event website.

For Spring Fling 2023, we will be collecting donations for Feed the Pack and the Wolfpack Styled Professional Clothing Closet. Collection dates, times and locations are as follows:

Joyner Visitor Center
1210 Varsity Drive
 Friday, February 24
 8:30 am – 8:00 pm

Witherspoon Student Student
2810 Cates Avenue (WSC 126)
Saturday, February 25
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Unable to attend Spring Fling? That’s okay! Pack Families can support our efforts by donating items to these worthy causes throughout the academic year. We encourage parents to support our efforts by donating canned food items and gently used business formal and business casual clothing items. We are happy to receive these items during regular business hours at our office in the E. Carroll Joyner Visitor Center Monday – Friday. Donations may also be given directly to the programs. Please see the websites above for additional information, details and locations.
