Chances are you probably remember the first time your student said, “I want to be ____when I grow up” and whether they are working toward that today or have changed their mind multiple times, they are on a path toward their dream and you are still their biggest fan.

This is why NC State recognizes parents and families as champions for student success. As the individuals that students often turn to first for advice and guidance, parents of college students serve as advocates supporting students to explore the resources, seize programming opportunities and be the extra nudge students sometimes need to engage with key campus services such as the Career Development Center.

Career Champions: The Parent Edition is a free, 75-minute, faculty-led training program encouraging parents to become Career Champions for their students. Through cutting-edge trends and helpful information, parents will increase their knowledge and enhance their support. Families will learn how to guide students as they develop their personal strategies to effectively communicate current career identity and career readiness techniques and improve their overall role as advocates for their students.

This event is full and the waitlist is at capacity. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Career Champions: The Parent Edition is an adaption of Career Champions, a new program launched in 2022 by our partners in the Career Development Center. Learn more here.
