What is Family of the Year?
The annual Family of the Year contest has become a university tradition during Parents and Families Weekend. Family of the Year invites NC State students to honor and express gratitude for their parents and family members’ unwavering commitment and exceptional encouragement throughout their educational journey.
Criteria
The award-winning nomination will reflect four key themes: student support, engagement, pride and creativity. Submissions should showcase instances where families have played an important role in supporting a student as they achieve personal milestones during their time at NC State. Additionally, consider how family members have collaborated with nominees to pursue their passions, encourage independence throughout the college journey and foster Wolfpack pride. The nomination should convey depth and authenticity through meaningful storytelling that highlights the family’s involvement in the nominee’s college experience.
Prize Package
- A $500 gift certificate for Wolfpack Outfitters
- An engraved plaque honoring the family
- Complimentary event tickets to all events of their choice during Parents and Families Weekend 2026 AND Spring Fling 2027
- Complimentary hotel accommodations at NC State’s premier property, State View, for up to two rooms on both Friday and Saturday evenings
- An all-access pass to the NC State v. Louisville football game on Sat. Oct. 3 (time is TBA) with seating in the Chancellor’s Box and on-field recognition experience during the game for the whole family!
How to nominate your family.
Nomations for the 2026 Family of the Year will open on July 1, 2026, and close on Sept. 13 at 11:59 p.m.
Family of the Year nominations must be submitted by a current NC State student. Submissions completed by parents or family members will not be eligible. All enrolled students, including graduate students, are encouraged to nominate their family.
