Welcome Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Wolfpack Family,

To our returning families, welcome back, and to our first-timers, welcome to the Wolfpack Family. We are delighted to have you here.

Click here for a special welcome message from Chancellor Kevin Howell

NC State’s Parents and Families Services is a dedicated resource center that aims to support, inform and engage the parents and families of our students. We achieve this through various programs, special events and communications, including this newsletter. The Pack Family Post is an electronic newsletter that shares useful resources, such as Learn the Lingo, important reminders, like Parents and Families Weekend registration, along with exciting updates from our valuable campus partners.

In each edition, we will share helpful links to our monthly Conversation Calendar, the Academic Calendar and a printable version of the 2026-2027 Family Handbook/Calendar publication.

As your student begins the fall semester, encourage them to participate in the many upcoming events that make up our annual Wolfpack Welcome Weeks. Highlighted activities include the Student Involvement Fairs, featuring hundreds of student organizations for both new and returning students, Wellness and Rec programming, and of course, Packapalooza, NC State’s signature block party. Engagement is essential; urge your students to explore a range of activities, some of which they may already be familiar with and others that offer new experiences, to discover their interests and build their on-campus community.

Community is essential for the success of all students, whether they are returning to NC State as residential or commuter students, are new transfer students or simply need a friendly reminder to make the most of their experience.

Is your student living on campus? Bookmark Resident Resources for important information about Room Changes and Community Standards.

For commuter students, encourage them to stay on campus to study; remind them that special events, clubs, organizations and programming opportunities are available to them as well. If needed, share helpful insights with our Life at NC State resource page.

With so much going on for students, we want you to know that Wolfpack Families are top of mind as well, and we are excited to invite you back to campus for our annual Parents and Families Weekend, Oct. 2-4. With a wide variety of special events planned, we strive to offer something fun for everyone in the family. Registration opens* on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Events are sold à la carte, and many do fill up quickly. More information is listed below.

In closing, we are thrilled to have you here. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you in championing your students’ success every step of the way.

May the year ahead be a howling success. GO PACK!

Sincerely,
Kerri Fowler
Executive Director, Parents and Families Services

University Housing Reminders

Help your student start strong and remind them to complete their Housing Agreement and PackChat. Both are quick and important steps to building a great community experience. Encourage them to keep an eye on their email for upcoming fun and helpful events, like the Wolf Den Challenge and the Housing Fair!

WELLNESS DAY

The next Wellness Day will be taking place on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026.

Classes are not held on Wellness Days. Campus resources and activities are designed to help students care for their whole selves. Support is available from physical and emotional health to financial wellness and community-building. Establishing and maintaining a healthy mindset is about aiming for progress, not perfection and takes intentionality every day.
