  • Which welcome events have you attended?

    Transfer Tip: Encourage your student to connect with at least one club or organization.
  • Tell me about your academic advisors and/or professors.
  • How is your experience different this semester compared to previous semesters at your former institution?
  • What is your daily routine like, on campus and off?
  • What are some of your campus favorites?
    • Where is your favorite place to study?
    • Do you have a go-to place you like to eat?
    • Where do you meet and connect with other students?
  • How are you taking care of yourself and prioritizing your physical and mental health?

    Transfer Tip: Encourage your student to visit the Academic Success Center.
  • When do you meet with your advisor for spring semester planning?
  • What types of leadership opportunities are you interested in or have you explored so far?

    Transfer Tip: Meeting with your Academic Advisor is an essential component of student success. Be sure to remind your student to connect with the individuals and resources that will support them most during their time at NC State.

    Did you know? NC State hosts Wolfpack Welcome Weeks in both the fall and the spring semester! This is an excellent way for transfer students to get engaged and start building the Wolfpack Community early.
  • Summer/Fall Planning
    • Are you taking any classes or pursuing any new opportunities (internships, volunteer, co-ops, study abroad, etc.) this summer?
    • Where will you be living during the summer and/or fall? 
  • What are your plans for Spring Break?

    Did you know? NC State offers Summer Sessions to provide students with the opportunity to take courses to help balance course loads, increase GPA, take advantage of a smaller class size and even help to graduate early! Learn more here.

  • GRADUATING TRANSFERS: Be sure to ask your transfer student if they have confirmed their graduation requirements and to share any details that will be helpful for planning.
