Summer Start

Summer Start is a unique opportunity for students to begin their NC State undergraduate experience early by taking Summer Session II classes prior to the fall semester. Summer Start is open to all new first-year and transfer students, including international students and Spring Connect students.

Participants are able to participate in study break sessions led by their Summer Start Mentors, weekend excursions, and a variety of programs and events hosted by campus partners!

Through Summer Start, students can:

  • Live in the heart of NC State’s campus
  • Build a community of other new students
  • Engage with faculty in smaller classes
  • Explore academic and personal interests in a supportive environment
  • Navigate the campus and the local community
  • Connect with an upper-division student who will serve as your Summer Start Mentor
