NC State has recognized nine irreplaceable buildings, landscapes and natural settings on its Raleigh campus that have accrued significant meaning to students, faculty, staff and alumni over time. We call them Hallowed Places. Take a tour of the seven sites within walking distance of the Memorial Belltower and learn about all nine spots on this tour led by University Communications writer, editor and keeper of all things historical about NC State, Tim Peeler (’87).

Along the way, we’ll discuss university folklore, icons, legends, and the hallowed history of the ground between the tunnels and under the bricks of North Carolina’s largest university.

NOTE: This is a walking tour. It is not strenuous, but it will move quickly to stay within the allotted hour. It could be longer if the group is curious. Walking shoes are recommended. Also, beware of the bricks.

Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) training is a community-based, nationally recognized, and empirically grounded suicide prevention program for students, faculty, staff, and now families!

Understanding and recognizing warning signs of suicide is crucial to helping students get the support they need. For this reason, Parents and Families Services is partnering with Prevention Services in collaboration with the Counseling Center and the Office of Risk Assessment to offer Wolfpack Families QPR training.

QPR focuses on connecting someone in distress with additional support or referring them for professional help. NC State has joined more than 160 colleges and universities in offering QPR, and we hope Pack Parents will join us in our efforts.

There is no cost to attend this event. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited.
