The beginning of a new semester is an excellent time for your student to explore a variety of opportunities both in and out of the classroom. A student’s transition to the professional world is both challenging and exciting and can begin before graduation. Pursuing internships and other job opportunities in a professional setting is something that can often seem daunting, but the University offers many opportunities for students to explore their options. The university-sponsored career fairs allow students to get directly involved with businesses in the area, opening pathways to networking and making connections that lead to internships and future employment. For students not interested in professional employment in the near future, these fairs offer great opportunities to gain experience interacting with employers and practicing for future career fairs.

Preparing for the career fair is essential to your student’s success, and there are tips and resources available to help them do just that. Utilizing Career Fair Plus, NC State’s Career Fair digital guide is designed to help students find employers, navigate the event, and take advantage of tools such as resume sharing. Preparing an up-to-date resume is an essential component of pre-fair preparation, and students can visit NC State’s Career Development Center for assistance. The Career Development Center also has shortlists of detailed information on how to prepare for every necessary step of the career fair. One of the most important things parents can do is empower their students to take advantage of these resources.

The Spring 2025 Career Fairs begin on January 28th, with the Career & Agency Fair. These fairs run through March 26th, segmented by individual colleges and degree programs in the University. Whether it’s the Engineering Career Fair on February 4th or the Management Career Fair on the 14th, there is a fair for every student no matter their major. Take a look at the specific schedule to identify which career fair is for your student, and good luck with this next big step!

Thank you for taking an interest in your student’s career development journey.
