Preparing For Finals
Finals are quickly approaching, and for many students, that brings added stress. As part of your students’ support system, there are meaningful ways you can help ease some of that pressure and support them as they finish the year strong.
A great first step is to encourage your student to be proactive with studying. NC State offers an abundance of resources to help students succeed throughout their time in college. The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides 1-on-1 tutoring for many courses by appointment. They also administer drop-in tutoring and supplemental instruction for select courses. Also, encourage your student to study with friends in their classes. Group studying sessions are a fantastic way for your student to study and socialize at the same time, reducing stress.
Speaking of reducing stress, Wellness and Recreation will host De-Stress Fest from April 28 through May 6. Have your student look through the schedule and find an event that interests them. From yoga to flower pot painting, there are tons of activities for your student to take a quick break from studying!
And as always, the Counseling Center will be readily available for your student if needed. Group and individual sessions are always accessible. Whether your student wants to discuss academics or general topics, the counseling center will always have someone ready to meet with your student.
Happy Finals Season!
