Congratulations Newly Admitted Students!

Welcome to the Wolfpack, class of 2026! We are so excited to welcome such astounding innovators and leaders to NC State. After countless hours of hard work, it is finally beginning to pay off and we could not be more proud. This is a huge accomplishment, and there are many incredible opportunities awaiting you and your student. Parents and families are a crucial part of a student’s successful college career, and we are eager to welcome you to the Pack community. We cannot wait to see what the new members of the Pack will #ThinkandDo here at NC State!

Once your student has been accepted to NC State, there are many resources that you both can partake in to learn more about the University, prepare yourselves for next steps and stay up to date with all things related to the Wolfpack. It is advised that your student continue to check their wolfPAW account for information regarding important upcoming events and deadlines for newly admitted students. Additionally, there are other ways that you and your student can get a better understanding of campus life while using NC State resources.

Newly Admitted Students

As recently admitted students and parents, we understand there are many questions regarding what exactly needs to happen next after receiving admission. The best way to start the path to becoming a member of the Wolfpack family is for your student to complete their New Student Checklist. This is a checklist that advises students of what to do once they are admitted and notifies students of important deadlines. It is essentially a step-by-step guide that assists students through the newly admitted process. Additionally, there are several Admitted Student Events that your student can begin to register for. These can range from Experience NC State, Facebook Live events and Academic College Sessions (registration is found in your student’s wolfPAW account). Finally, New Student Orientation is a required program for all first-year and transfer students. These dates and times have not yet been released, but they will be made available towards the end of February 2022. This is an exceptional way for students to experience campus, hear from many campus partners and prepare for the transition to college life. This is also a great way for parents to accompany their students to campus and learn more about their student’s future academic journey, so it is highly recommended that parents also attend the New Student Orientation. We are just as excited to welcome parents to the Wolfpack family as we are students!

University Housing

We understand that living on campus is a major part of the adjustment to college, and NC State has implemented many ways you can learn about University Housing before coming to visit campus. For newly admitted students, it is strongly encouraged to submit an application for housing as soon as possible, and your student can find more information regarding this process in their wolfPAW account. If you are interested in learning more about University Housing, you can reference the University Housing Open House Tour video or take a peek into dorm life with our Residence Hall Virtual Tours. You can also learn more about our campus as a whole using the Main Campus Virtual Tour.

Staying Up to Date

An efficient way to keep up with NC State is to visit the NC State University webpage on a normal basis to ensure you and your student do not miss any important notices or deadlines. NC State also uses many social media platforms to reach its students and share relevant information. You and your student can stay connected with NC State using Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Parents and Families Services

A helpful resource at NC State for incoming parents and families is our office, the Office of Parents and Families Services. We seek to nurture relationships with parents and the University by sharing valuable information and resources to help support students with their academic success. For parents wishing to receive communications from our office, students can go into their myPACK portal and grant parents access to create a Brickyard account. In this account, parents can request to receive communications from our office. For more information, visit the Student Information Systems (SIS) Parents and Guardians Help Guide.

Our office also has many initiatives to engage parents with the University. We have Coffee Chats hosted twice a week for parents to join and ask questions, the Pack Family Regions program to connect parents and families across the country, the Family Ambassador Program where parents can collaborate with our office by volunteering for various events and many more! You can always contact our Parents’ Helpline with any questions or concerns by calling (919).515.2441 or by emailing ncstateparents@ncsu.edu. We look forward to helping you navigate this transition to college!

You should feel incredibly proud of your student’s accomplishments, and we are so excited to welcome you both to the Wolfpack family. As always, go Pack!
