Having an On-Campus Job

Having a job while being a student can be a big commitment. It can be tricky to navigate classes and a social life while also working, but having a job on campus is worth it. Working on campus is different from working off campus, as everyone who works at the university recognizes students as students first and wants nothing more than to watch the students succeed. They want their job on campus to help push the students towards success and help them in the future when it comes time to get a job after graduation or apply to graduate schools.

I have had two jobs on campus since my time here as a student. I’ve worked as an Orientation Leader during the summer between my first and second years of college, and I have worked as a Parent Ally since the spring of my sophomore year. These jobs have brought me incredible opportunities that have enhanced and drastically changed my college experience for the better.

Working on campus came with a lot of benefits for me. Having a job on campus actually helped me academically. It helped me become more motivated to succeed and reach the goals I set for myself inside the classroom. It also helped foster my love for NC State. I absolutely adore this university, and I don’t think I would have the same appreciation for the Wolfpack had I not had the experiences that I had. I also made some amazing friends that I know I will have for a lifetime. I probably wouldn’t have met these incredible people had I not worked in the offices I worked in.

NC State makes it really easy to find jobs on campus through ePACK. ePACK is NC State’s online system that gives students access to all the jobs available through not only NC State but other employers who want to employ NC State students and alumni. Students can also find on-campus positions through Campus Enterprises. Campus Enterprises is the organization on campus that houses Wolfpack Outfitters, NC State Dining and several other departments that employ nearly 1,200 students.

No matter where students end up working on campus, there is something to gain from each experience.
