Staying Healthy

Staying Healthy is incredibly important during this time of year, especially with flu season fast approaching. During winter break, it is crucial that your student takes time to check in mentally and physically in order to stay well and prepare for next semester. If your student is coming home for break, it may be a good time to schedule doctor appointments and get yearly checkups while they are home and schedules may be less hectic. It is also important to remember to transfer prescriptions to local pharmacies if your student is traveling out of the area.

While physical health is important, mental health is also just as important. Allowing your student to have time to decompress from the busy fall semester is crucial during this time. Self-care is also very important and your student needs to take time to reset themselves before the next semester begins.

While at home, it is important to remember that resources are still available to students. If students are in need of help or guidance, please encourage them to reach out to their primary care provider, psychologist/mental health clinician, Student Health Services, or Counseling and Prevention Services if your student is feeling sad, anxious, or hopeless. If your student is physically sick, please consult with your student’s primary care provider at home, especially if they have any preexisting conditions or develop any possible symptoms of COVID-19. One last reminder is to get the flu vaccine if you haven’t already done so while you are at home.

Stay healthy and have a great break, Wolfpack!

Best,

Rebecca
