Valentine’s Day Care Packages
Valentine’s Day on a college campus can look a little different from what it does at home. While some students are celebrating with their friends or partners, many are also balancing classes, jobs, and extracurricular activities. Classes typically start to pick up around this time, and students may start feeling overwhelmed and a little distant from friends and family. For parents, Valentine’s Day can be a simple but meaningful opportunity to remind your student that they are loved, supported, and not alone, even from miles away. A great way to do this is through a Valentine’s Day care package. Even though the idea may seem small, the impact can be BIG.
College is often described as an exciting time, but it can also be stressful. Academic pressure, a new social environment, and being away from home can take a toll, especially during the winter months. Receiving a care package breaks up their daily routine and gives students something tangible to look forward to. From a student’s perspective, it’s not about the cost or size of the package. It’s the feeling of being thought of and is a great way to brighten their day.
While every student is different, there are many great, easy things to include in a care package that your student will love. Favorite snacks are an amazing option, especially if your student is living on campus and has less access to their comfort snacks. Practical items, such as school supplies or self-care items, are another great way to show your love. A personal note focusing on encouragement and support can be another meaningful addition to a care package.
There are also some festive, Valentine ’s-themed events happening on campus in February. Fountain Dining Hall has a special meal planned, complete with bracelet-making, and the African American Cultural Center has created a “dating profile” for a Blind Date with a Book. There are many other fun activities on campus for your student as well, all throughout the month.
As a student, I’ve seen firsthand how even the smallest package can turn a student’s day around and remind them they are loved and supported. A Valentine’s Day care package doesn’t have to be extravagant, instead the focus should be on connection. In the midst of classes, deadlines, and campus life, a small reminder from home can make a big difference.
Go Pack!
