Welcome Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Wolfpack Family,
Greetings from Parents and Families Services! We hope all of your students had a wonderful Fall Break. It’s hard to believe that the middle of the semester is upon us and plans for the spring are already in motion, but there are still many activities, updates and reminders for you and your family to support your student over the next few weeks.
The second half of fall is an essential time for students, and they should prioritize tasks from University Housing, Transportation and Study Abroad, among others, that are critical during this period. Along with their to-do list, notable events such as Red and White Week, Light Up the Night for Mental Health and the many fall concerts featuring NC State student talent are all highlighted activities.
It would be remiss not to acknowledge that, with the excitement of such events, the second half of the semester can also be stressful. The Academic Calendar, course selection, projects, final exams, etc., can all weigh heavily on our students and it’s equally important to prioritize self-care. Whether that means getting a flu shot, downloading the free Headspace app or working out at Wellness and Recreation, take time to ask questions beyond the classroom. Take time to connect with your student about these topics or by using starters from our monthly Conversation Calendar. All are excellent ways to encourage and check in on your student’s well-being.
Last but certainly not least, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended Parents and Families Weekend. From big laughs to big wins, we couldn’t have asked for a better event. Click here to see the weekend in photographs.
Did you know? Parents and Families Services hosts two annual family weekends, one in the fall and one in the spring. Be sure to save the date for our Spring Fling family weekend, March 6-8. Event planning is underway. Registration* will open on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
As always, we are here for you. If there is anything we can do to support you and your student, please reach out to us via our Helpline phone 919.515.2441 or email [email protected].
GO PACK!
Sincerely,
Kerri Fowler
Executive Director, Parents and Families Services
*Please note that we do not share an exact time that registration will open in advance. This helps ensure a smooth registration experience for everyone. Thank you for understanding.
