Introduction: Pack Family Ally
Hello Wolfpack Families!
My name is Taylor Alford, and I’m a second-year student in the Wilson College of Textiles here at NC State. My major is Fashion and Textile Management with a concentration in Brand Management and Marketing, and I’m planning to minor in both Business Administration and Psychology. I’m very excited to join Parents and Families Services this year!
I grew up here in Raleigh, and I am a second-generation NC State student. My dad graduated in 2000, so it has been really special for us to share some of the same college experiences, and for me to show him what has improved around campus! Every week of my freshman year, we would get lunch together at different restaurants (and occasionally dining halls) around downtown Raleigh that he deemed NC State campus life classics. We also got to share some Wolfpack Pride with my younger sister and my mom (who graduated from UNC Chapel Hill- eek!) by watching our baseball team in action.
Some advice I’m sure you and your student will hear often is to get involved on campus! It truly can make the college transition so much easier, and is a great opportunity to either continue with something familiar or to try something new. I joined a campus ministry, which helped me gain a great support network early on in freshman year, and I worked part-time at Wolf Xpress, our print shop in Talley Student Union.
This year, I’m very excited to join the team at Parents and Families Services, and I hope to see you at Parents and Families Weekend!
Taylor Alford,
Pack Family Ally
