HOME FOR FALL BREAK!

Fall break is nearly upon us and it is the perfect opportunity for students to take a mental break from the stressors of college and enjoy some much-needed free time. For many students heading home for fall break is a great opportunity to see their families, and relax at home. While family time is important, keep in mind that your students may want to catch up with old friends as well. Maintaining relationships that started before college is very important for many students’ mental health and this is a great time to reconnect. Some college students may use the break to get ahead on coursework, prepare for the rest of the semester and plan their 2025 spring schedule.

In the week leading up to fall break, many students work through multiple due dates and midterm exams, making it one of the more stressful periods of the semester. The long study hours and project work sessions take a toll on every student, and fall break allows us to unwind and take a moment to ourselves. When your student comes home, have a conversation about their classes, friends and course loads. If you notice that your student may be struggling during this period of the semester, please refer them to our Counseling Center upon returning to campus, as there are many resources available to finish the second half of the semester in a great mindset.

I’m headed home with zero plans, just wanting to take time to relax without any worries of deadlines in my head. Prioritizing time with family is very important, and I am very excited to spend time with my parents and my sister who is also home for fall break.

I know I am so excited for fall break and I hope everyone else is too!
