College Morning Routine

Mornings can look different every day in college, as some days classes may begin at 8:30 and on other days students may not have class at all. Students chose to start their days in unique ways, as something different works for everyone, but here are some ways students can choose to begin their day!

Working Out

Carmichael Gym is a great place for students to start their day! Students can sign up for an early morning group fitness class, or chose to work out on their own. If the weather is nice, students can even work out outside on Miller Fields. It is important for students to incorporate exercise into their busy schedules, and squeezing in a workout at the beginning of the day may be an option for your student.

Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it is important that students find the breakfast location on campus that is convenient for them! Case Dining Hall is known for having an amazing breakfast, and so are Clark and Fountain Dining Halls! Students can also get breakfast in Talley Student Union or at Park Shops. NC State makes it really easy for students to grab food if they are on the go, or sit down and eat if they have the time.

Self Care

Self-care is very important, especially with a busy schedule. Finding small pockets of time to take care of yourself is critical to success in college. Encourage your student to take a few minutes every day to do something for themselves. Fitting this in in the morning may be a good way to start the day on the right foot. Whether it is just laying in bed for an extra five minutes, journaling, meditating, or talking to a friend, self-care is important to maintain mental health and it can be really easy to incorporate into your day.

Finding a routine that works may take some time, but it is important to prioritize for students to prioritize their mental and physical health to begin each day in the best way possible!
