A special message from your 2022-2023 Regional Chair…
Welcome to the Asheville Pack Family Region!
Dear Fellow Pack Parents and Families,
Welcome! On behalf of Parents and Families Services, it is my pleasure and privilege to formally welcome you to the Pack Family Regions program.
The purpose of the Pack Family Regions program is to connect you with other NC State Families and help you build your Pack near or far!
My name is Jim Skotthy and I am the chair for our region, the western region of North Carolina. I live in Lexington, NC and I am so excited to welcome new and current Pack Parents to the program. As the chair, my intent is to be a liaison between you and Parents and Families Services. The intent is to strengthen the connections between the university and Pack families by hosting a broad range of meaningful virtual and in-person events for families. Through these events, you will have opportunities to network and socialize with other families within our geographical region while staying connected to the life of the university in ways that will enhance your experiences and contribute to the success of your student. Attached to this welcome you will find a quick google questionnaire asking about your preferences on contact and whether virtual or in-person events are preferable. Ours is a large region, consisting of over 20 counties so while we will attempt in-person events, please know that they may not be happening in your county.
Parents and Families Services offers a variety of programs and services supporting NC State families and student success. I would encourage you to take advantage of these resources and periodically visit the parents’ website parents.ncsu.edu. They also offer a Parents’ Helpline available via email at ncstateparents@ncsu.edu or phone at 919.515.2441. Do feel free to reach out with questions or concerns, anytime!
Be on the lookout for signature events like Parents and Families Weekend and Spring Fling. Both are three-day event that features a variety of activities, highlighted events and meaningful NC State traditions; a memorable weekend with your student you won’t want to miss!
I am excited to hear from you. Please feel free to send me an email at skotthy@twc.com to share your thoughts, interest, expertise or programming. Please put Pack Family Regions in the subject line. Together we will build a vibrant community of proud Wolfpack Families in our region. I look forward to working with you and hearing from you. Once again, welcome to the Pack Family Regions Program and let’s have a great year!
GO PACK!
Sincerely,
Jim Skotthy
